I'm a writer, editor, educator, and speaker with an MPS in psychology and art therapy, and I'm a creative writing Teaching Artist at the Hammer Museum of Los Angeles. I run creative writing, art therapy and school application essay workshops globally, and educate patients, families, and students privately as well. As a journalist and essayist, for over a decade, I've contributed heath, mental health, culture and travel features and essays to The New York Times, National Geographic, Travel + Leisure, The Washington Post, PBS, The Wall Street Journal, Offspring, GoodHouskeeping, and Parents, among other outlets.
Here's a preview and link to register for my upcoming virtual art therapy talk in May, 2024, in partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center oncologists and other experts, Empowering Women Living with Cancer. I'll be speaking about the notable therapeutic benefits of creative outlets for patients and families, from journaling and writing, to doodling, drawing, painting and more, based on my clinical experience working at Sloan Kettering bedside as an art therapist and graduate research, which I won an award for excellence for, from The School of Visual Arts in New York City, and a grant.
Learn more about related workshops offered this spring and summer, or contact me to join.
In addition to feature articles and essays, I write, ghostwrite and edit content for non-profits including Yale School of Medicine, Points of Light, and The Children's Health Fund as well as for smaller health-tech companies. From 2012 to 2016, I wrote several hundred articles for CafeMom, generating engaging content on parenting, health and human development. I've also published short fiction in literary journals and recently completed my first novel, a romcom set on a fictional island in the Mediterranean overrun by wild goats.
