College, graduate school and prep-school essay coaching (ages 12 to adult)

From brainstorming ideas and rough drafting to editing and polishing, I am specifically trained and experienced in guiding rising high-schoolers and college/university students through all phases of the essay-writing process. By enabling them to put their best ideas on the page in their own unique voice, their essays end up being engaging and memorable to admissions readers.
With more and more U.S. colleges dropping the requirements for SATs and other standardized tests, the essays, which can illuminate an applicant's unique perspective, character, charm, strengths, and intellect, and bring their voice to life for admissions officers, becomes even more critical. (For every four applicants who hire me for school essay support, I take on a new student applicant without the means to pay for coaching, pro-bono—so in working with me, you're also sharing an important resource with another hopeful, hard-working peer. And to this end, I'm always happy to get referrals for students I might support, either paid or unpaid.)
Journalism instruction (adults)

I work with adult writers of all levels who are looking to publish in national and international outlets, and offer both individual and group workshops focused on crafting, editing, polishing and pitching personal essays, reported essays, op-eds and feature articles.
